SYNONYMS: Zingiber, Zingiberis Rhizoma, Aduwa
BIOLOGICAL SOURCE: Ginger is the dried scraped or unscraped rhizomes of Zingiber officinale
ORGANOLEPTIC EVALUATION:
Color: Buff-colored
Odor: Agreeable and aromatic
Taste: Pleasantly pungent and aromatic

Fracture: short and Fibrous

SURFACE CHARACTERS

  • The dried rhizomes are laterally compressed bering short ovate branches on the upper side. Each branch has a depressed scar at its apex.
  • The surface is longitudinally striated with occasional loose fibres.
  • The scraped drug shows no sign of corks or root scars.


USES
